Carl Pucci
Ephemeral Enthusiast
Carl Pucci is the President and managing partner at EO59. He attended Old Dominion University from 2006 to 2010, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Geography. In addition, he served as the Student Government President.
Carl has served in different capacities including:
COO at Ovela 2012 - 2019 and later as Principal from Jan 2019 to Sept 2020.
Head of International at AS Datel and later as Senior Consultant.
He now heads EO59, a space company developing software for Earth observation and satellite data collection. EO59 develops the data and then delivers the final product to engineers using the movement of the Earth and other structures.
He is passionate about space, spaceships, and particularly 1960s space clothing styles.

The first thing I remember ever buying in my life was a Nikon camera, starting my lifelong adventure in Earth Observation the reel way!".
Alexander Gunkel
Founder and Managing Director at Space4Good
Alexander Gunkel describes himself as a serial entrepreneur whose strength lies in using space technology for society and the environment. He’s trained at the European Space Agency where he assisted in organizing project reviews and the global rocket launch schedule.
Alexander cofounded SKYTREE in 2013, which pioneered the development of CO2 capture technology. It works by extracting carbon dioxide from highly concentrated environments to reduce environmental pollution.
Besides SKYTREE, Alexander is also the founder of RoadEO, a company that uses crowdsourcing and space technology to monitor infrastructure such as roads. When he’s not busy championing the use of space technology, he’s busy volunteering at ValidationLab, where he serves as a mentor. ValidationLab helps young entrepreneurs nurture and develop their business ideas.
Egbert Jan van der Veen
Managing director for OHB Venture Capital GmbH
Egbert works for the OHB Group, one of the largest independent space industrial groups in Europe. He has a Master’s Degree in Technology Management. He’s pursuing a Ph.D. in Innovation Management, Operations Management and Space Engineering.
Egbert is also Managing Director of the OHB Venture Capital GmbH, which aims to invest in start-ups that drive Digitalization and Space technologies forward. He is responsible for strategy & corporate development and is creating a new Business unit of OHB called OHB DIGITAL, which concentrates on downstream applications based on satellite data.
Dr. Niamh Shaw
Award-winning Science Communicator, ESA Champion, 2022
Niamh Shaw is a space reporter on a mission to share a new perspective of our planet and ourselves through Space. She has 2 degrees, a Master’s in Biosystems Engineering & a Ph.D. in Food Science. She’s been in the media for over 12 years with podcasts, videos, public talks, workshops, social media, TV, and radio.
Here’s a brief rundown of her illustrious career in space:
She hosted the Crew 3 launch from NASA Kennedy Space Center, RTE
Was a presenter at Space Hub segment, RTE TV After School Hub
Co-hosted and created the ‘Baking in Space- Bake to the Future’ show from March to November 2020.

Dr. Niamh also writes theatre shows and makes art installations. She just published her first book 'Dream Big' about her fascination for space. She was also recently awarded an ESA Champion by Josef Aschbacher, ESA DG - whose work is rooted in sharing a new perspective of our planet.
Joe Cotti
Sales & Business Development Manager - Airbus Defence and Space - Intelligence
As a child, Joe Cotti was born in Bologna, Italy, and had always shown an interest in space, nature, and scuba diving. So, unsurprisingly, the first (space) became his career choice, choosing to pursue the rest as hobbies.
As a senior image exploitation specialist, he is skilled in research and development, object-oriented design, intelligence analysis, IMINT, and imagery analysis. Joe also has a solid background in multidisciplinary remote sensing systems and extensive experience developing earth observation markets and products.
He’s studied in two countries: earning a Master's degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies and a BA in political science. As a result, he’s fluent in English, Hebrew, and Italian. It’s a valuable skill necessary for his current role as Sales and Business Development Manager for Airbus Defence and Space for Southern & Eastern Europe.
Raphael Roettgen
Founder E2MC Ventures CFA, FRM
Raphael Roettgen serves as the managing partner at E2MC Ventures. E2MC is a venture capital firm that focuses on space. He also works as a lecturer, delivering talks on space entrepreneurship and finance at universities, like the International Space University (ISU) and the Swiss Institute of Technology at Lausanne (EPFL).
In addition to lecturing, Raphael is also an Investor and advisor to space companies, institutional investors, and governments on space. His previous roles have been in investment management firms and investment banks. In addition, Raphael has an academic background in space & artificial intelligence.
He hosts the Space Business Podcast and has written a book on the space economy. It’s available in German and Portuguese. In addition, Raphael volunteers as an event coordinator for Space Enthusiasts Switzerland Meetup and has served in the role since Feb 2020.
Sebastian Misurak
Investment Manager at Herius Capital
Sebastian is an investment manager at Herius Capital and a financial specialist with over 4 years of experience in the venture capital market. In addition, he has a Master’s degree in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship from the University of Gothenburg.
His previous work experience includes business development in the energy industry, and later, he got into Venture capital. Working as an investment manager has earned him extensive work experience across the investment value chain.
Shimon Sarid
CEO at SpaceIL
Shimon was born in 1953 in Israel. In 1975 he graduated from Technion as an aeronautical engineer. In 2000 he was promoted to Brig. General as the Head of the IAF Material Command.
In 2004, Shimon retired from service and joined Elbit Systems as CEO of Silver-Arrow, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems for unmanned aircraft systems design, production, operation, and support. In March 2020, he joined Spaceil as the CEO to lead the Beresheet2 lunar landing program.
One highlight of his career in space is The Israel Defence Award, issued to him in 1998 by the President of Israel for his outstanding contribution to the country’s defense.
Temidayo Oniosun
Managing Director at Space in Africa, Forbes 30 under 30
Temidayo is the Managing Director of Space in Africa, the African space and satellite industry's top analytics and consultancy firm. He oversaw the baseline study for the African Union's implementation and operationalization of the African Space Agency (ASA).
He holds a master's degree in Satellite Applications from the University of Strathclyde Glasgow. Temidayo is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Delaware. Temidayo has led various industry-defining assessments and publications, and he advises governments and commercial space companies throughout Africa's value chain.
He is also the co-founder of RadikalHub, an organization shaping the future of work by providing the finest environment for people to collaborate, stay productive and have fun.
